FAQs

Who is Caito Tattoos?

Caitlin Carter is an Oregon based tattoo artist that specializes in black work, black & grey, and fine dot work/illustrative tattoos. She has been tattooing professionally since 2018, and is currently working out of Black Brush Tattoo Studio in downtown Eugene, Oregon.

How do I book an appointment?

You can only book appointments through email, no social media platforms. Please send a message with a brief description of what you’re looking for, size in inches, placement and any references you may have.

When should I expect a response?

If you are hoping to be a new client, you can expect a response within the week or two of books opening. If you send an email while bookings are closed, you can expect a response when bookings open. Do not message on any social media platform.

What designs do you usually focus on/ are more likely to take on?

I am currently interested in black and grey or black-work/black out pieces, centering around content including plant life, animals, bugs, dinosaurs, also the occult/dark/creepy concepts.

I am not likely to take on anything with color, other styles such as traditional, neo traditional, minimalist/ignorant (simple line work), or any type of script/lettering. I am not going to finish anyone else’s work, or likely to take on a coverup project unless it’s solid black out.

Black Out Tattoos:

Black out tattoos are full black coverups. Because black outs are a special kind of permanent, I will not take on bare arm or lightly tattooed clients. I do not guarantee single passes or single apt blackouts, because I am still new to this form of tattooing. I want clients to expect to spread out our appointments over a few months.

I do not require anyone to sit for their full session, and encourage everyone to be open and as communicative as possible.

I do not do geometric tattoos so please do not ask me to include this in your project. Geometric designs include flower of life patterns, fine line shapes, etc.

If you would like to add certain flow, shape or larger designs to your project we can discuss at our consultation.

Numbing creams/sprays:

I will not preform a black out tattoo on you if you use any type of numbing cream. If you choose to use numbing creams/sprays and don’t tell me, you are acknowledging that your healing can result in scarring, scabbing, and infection.

Black outs are a traumatic experience in terms of the space covered and the skin opened. Please be aware that healing will take a month or more. I do not recommend people go straight back to work, or attend the gym after apts for at least a few days to a week while healing.

Healing can feel hot, painful and swelling can be intense, scabbing is possible.

When can I see my design?

I do not send designs to clients before the day of the tattoo.

If you want your design before our apt, you are required to provide an additional non-refundable $100. This does not go towards your tattoo, but insured I have been paid for my work in case you decide to go with another artist.

How can I expect our consult to go?

Consults are by appointment only and do not require a deposit beforehand. They typically last anywhere from 10-30 minutes and are for us to get to know a little about each other and discuss design ideas more in depth. If we decide to move forward with the tattoo together, you will be expected to drop your deposit and I will put you on my schedule.
I do my best to be honest with you about your ideas or needs, and will not take on a project if I don’t believe I’m capable of doing so safely and correctly.

Deposits?

I require a $200 deposit that will go towards the final price of your tattoo. All deposits are final and non-refundable, by placing a deposit with me, you are agreeing to all terms mentioned in my FAQs.

I will not book multiple appointments on my schedule with you without a deposit for each day booked. Deposits can be paid in cash or by zelle the day of your consultation.
